Admission Requirements

• Application

  Verified application through

  The application opens Aug. 7, 2025 and the application deadline is Oct. 1, 2025 (for those intending to begin in fall 2026).

• Degree

  • Applicants must have one of these degree types from a regionally accredited institution and accredited nursing program (, , ): 
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
    • Post-Baccalaureate BSN
    • Master of Science in Nursing entry

• GPA

  • Applicants must have earned a 3.0 or higher GPA in their last 60 units/credits of nursing courses.
  • Applicants must have completed all courses below with a C or better and an overall 3.0 or higher GPA in these courses.
    
    • Chemistry: One course
    • Human Anatomy and Physiology: Two courses
    • Biology: One course (besides Human Anatomy and Physiology)
    • Statistics: One course
  • Applicants must have completed a general chemistry or physics course (with a grade of C or better) within 10 years of the application deadline. This course should include gas laws, moles and molecular concepts.

• RN License

  Applicants for all DNP specialties must have a current unencumbered Oregon license as a registered professional nurse and/or an APRN in the United States or its territories or protectorates.

• References

  Applicants must submit a total of two references from professional colleagues: one from a supervisor, and the other from a peer or CRNA shadow preceptor.

• Transcripts

  • Applicants must submit transcripts from all post-secondary education institutions.
  • All transcripts must be verified by NursingCAS within two weeks of the application deadline. There are no exceptions. 

• Experience

  • Applicants must have completed at least one year (a minimum of 1,800 hours) of continuous critical care ICU work within the past three years (residency/orientation hours do not count toward minimum critical care hours).
    • The following experiences will count toward this requirement: coronary, cardiac, burn, flight crew, medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, pediatric.
    • The following experiences will not count toward this requirement: neonatal ICU, emergency room, progressive care.
  • Required competencies include:
    • Routine management of adult patients on ventilators
    • Using and interpreting advanced monitoring techniques based on physiological and pharmacological principles
    • Titration of vasoactive medications

• Certifications

  • Applicants must have earned and maintained the following certifications by the application deadline: ACLS, BLS, PALS, CCRN.
  • Applicants must maintain ACLS, BLS, PALS throughout the entirety of the program.
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications must be issued from the American Heart Association.

• CV

  • Applicants must submit their CV (PDF format preferred).

• Shadowing Experience

  Applicants must have shadowed a CRNA (as opposed to an anesthesiologist) for a minimum of 20 hours.
