Dane Joseph, PhD
Professor of Education
Dane Joseph is a professor in the College of Education at ÄÛ²ÝÊÓƵ Fox University. He has directed dozens of education and social science studies using various quantitative and mixed-methods approaches, especially those aligned with program evaluation and improvement science paradigms.
Early in his career, he focused on establishing fairness in educational assessments and data analysis practices, which included training professionals to recognize their cognitive biases and manage the cognitive load required for these tasks.
He now often write essays about teaching, learning, and broader education issues from a reflexive, phronetic perspective, particularly focusing on how and why non-technical knowledge, skills, and abilities are acquired, adapted, or abandoned in specific contexts. He also serves as a methodological reviewer for various science education outlets, and occasionally you might even find him writing poetry.
From 2025 to 2027, he is serving as a senior research fellow for the university's Program for Leadership & Formation, spearheaded by professors Travis Pickell and Joseph Clair, and generously funded by the Educating Character Initiative and Lilly Endowment.
